Light Verses of the Good Shepherd

Matthew 17:1-5 (KJV) 1) And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, 2) And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. 3) And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. 4) Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. 5) While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. |

Matthew 26:30-32 (KJV) 30) And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives. 31) Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad. 32) But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee. |

Luke 2:14-16 (KJV) 14) Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. 15) And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. 16) And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. |

John 3:13-21 (KJV) 13) And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. 14) And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15) That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17) For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18) He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19) And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20) For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21) But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. |

John 8:1-12 (KJV) 1) Jesus went unto the mount of Olives. 2) And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them. 3) And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, 4) They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. 5) Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou? 6) This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. 7) So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. 8) And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. 9) And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. 10) When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? 11) She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more. 12) Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. |

John 9:1-7 (KJV) 1) And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth. 2) And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? 3) Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. 4) I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. 5) As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. 6) When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay, 7) And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam. He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing |

John 10:1-10 (KJV) 1) Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. 2) But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. 3) To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. 4) And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. 5) And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers. 6) This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them. 7) Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. 8) All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. 9) I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. 10) The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. |

John 10:11-18 (KJV) 11) I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. 12) But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. 13) The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep. 14) I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. 15) As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16) And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd. 17) Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. 18) No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father. |

Acts 22 (KJV) 1) Men, brethren, and fathers, hear ye my defence which I make now unto you. 2) (And when they heard that he spake in the Hebrew tongue to them, they kept the more silence: and he saith,) 3) I am verily a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, and taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was zealous toward God, as ye all are this day. 4) And I persecuted this way unto the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women. 5) As also the high priest doth bear me witness, and all the estate of the elders: from whom also I received letters unto the brethren, and went to Damascus, to bring them which were there bound unto Jerusalem, for to be punished. 6) And it came to pass, that, as I made my journey, and was come nigh unto Damascus about noon, suddenly there shone from heaven a great light round about me. 7) And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? 8) And I answered, Who art thou, Lord? And he said unto me, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou persecutest. 9) And they that were with me saw indeed the light, and were afraid; but they heard not the voice of him that spake to me. |

Acts 26:13 (KJV) 6) When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? 7) And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. 8) But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. 9) And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. 10) And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; 11) Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. |
